The DJ Turntable is the primary instrument used in DJ Hero and DJ Hero 2, and are bundled with these games. All songs in these two games are compatible with this instrument.
Functions[]
It has three buttons (green, red, and blue) on its rotatable phonograph record. The buttons have been designed to hold the players fingers while they use the turntable. The way it works is there are ripples in the button that dip inward so your fingers are held in place.
During gameplay, there will be three streams of curved lines going across the on-screen phonograph record highway and there are different types of hit icons. When an up-scratch note is approaching, press down the corresponding colored button while rotating the phonograph record slightly upward/clockwise. Likewise, when a down-scratch note is approaching, press down the corresponding button while rotating the phonograph record slightly downward/counterclockwise.
On the turntable aside from the phonograph record, there is an effects dial, a crossfader, and Euphoria button.
- The effects dial alters the audio effects similar to the whammy bar feature of a Guitar Hero controller.
- Next to the dial is the Euphoria button. When you have energy in your Euphoria energy, press this button to temporarily double your score multiplier until the meter is drained. In the Guitar Hero series, this ability is referred to as Star Power.
- Lastly, the horizontal switch is the crossfader. Flip this crossfader in the direction where the on-screen stream switches to an alternate lane to keep the stream synchronized in the lane. Switch the crossfader to the left when the green stream switches left, switch it to the right when the blue stream switches right, and switch it to the center when all streams align normally.
